Production Update

We'd like to quickly send an update on what we've been up to. This summer has been very busy due to both the Production as well as finishing IGG shipments. We have been currently deep in Animation, Anim Fixes and Simulation Production, Color Script Final touches as well as our first Lighting sequence and very excited to show in the future what our team is creating. We are looking for Lighters with Maya/Arnold and Nuke experience in case you are interested. Send us a note through our contact page. Thanks.

Sculptures Update

As we continue focusing on the film, we are happy to share the great progress that Sculptor Andrea Blasich has been making on our La Noria IGG sculptures out of ZBrush models done by artist Victor Marin of Invictus Designs. Some of them will be shipping out in the upcoming months. The pictures don't do justice to the amount of detail that they have. (Additional boy sculpture photo credit: Andrea Blasich)

IndieGogo Updates

Overall, the film is progressing in leaps and bounds thanks to all of your support!  We are in the last big push of animation and we are very impressed with what the team has been showing.  Carlos has been working with a fantastic team of concept art artists creating the Color Script for the lighting team (if you have the Member Blog you will see a weekend update blog post). We also have an wonderful team assembling shots and running simulation as well as a small core group of lighters that have been creating some sick imagery in our first rounds of lighting tests while helping finalize the lighting/compositing pipeline.

We wanted to send an Indiegogo update. In the month of April, we had all of the original artwork printed and sent to each of the artists for signatures. Thanks to Dave Correia for the great work helping us with this. We have been thrilled to see all of it come together and we decided to offer a PRINT ONLY perk through our InDemand IndieGoGo page. We also have 3 new prints from San Francisco artist Rick Kitagawa.

Updates on La Noria PERKS:

  • Wallpapers have been available today through BackerKit for you to download.  We added a bonus one as a token of appreciation for our contributors patience and support.
  • Member Blog has a new post about the beautiful work being done in look development by some of our artists.
  • We are still enjoying having our backers join us for our Dailies sessions. If you haven't been scheduled one please let us know and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
  • The T-Shirts will be going into production this month. We are offering 4 styles of T-shirts: a men’s black t-shirt, women’s black t-shirt, 2 color choices of a unisex baseball t-shirt. Everyone will also have the opportunity to add on to your order if you would like to get a t-shirt.
  • As you see in the image above, the Artist Prints have been numbered/signed and returned by the artists. We are preparing packaging and planning to ship in June!
  • The Sculptures are still in progress.  Last week, Carlos went out to meet with Sculptor Andrea Blasich in person to adjust prototype proportions and they are looking amazing. We still have work to do and we are anticipating shipping late summer.
  • The Animation Talk will be scheduled shortly once we complete all of the dailies perks.
  • The Art of La Noria book and he Final Film will be the last things we deliver when we are complete.

If you have any questions please feel free to email us.

Thank you for your continued support.

Compositing Sponsorship

We are very pleased to announce that The Foundry and Peregrine Labs are sponsoring La Noria. Since the new year, we have started early lighting/pipeline testing and through these sponsorships our team will be able push the visual style of the film further. We'd like to thank Jennifer Goldfinch at The Foundry as well as Colin Doncaster/Jennifer Morse at Peregrine Labs for helping making this happen.

In addition, for the last few years this kind of film and how it's being created wouldn't been able to move forward without the key support/sponsor of Autodesk, Artella, Solid Angle and Summus Render. We'll be doing a post in the future highlighting what each of them are doing in order to make this possible.

La Noria Crew

It's been a couple of weeks since the end of our IndieGogo campaign. We would not been able to achieve our goal without the help of certain people we'd like to acknowledge.

First, the entire La Noria Team who worked endlessly over the course of the campaign 30 day duration...not only on the campaign itself but also continuing working on the film production itself. We are proud and honored to have such a exceptional dedicated group of people. As we continue working on the film in the new year, we'll feature more La Noria crew artists to highlight their wonderful work and contributions on the film.

Second, we wanted to thank our artist friends that contributed pieces for the purposes of this campaign. Big heartfelt thank you to:

Third, we would love to thank all our contributors who donated their hard earned money in support to our little film. In addition to our contributors, we would also like to both thank and welcome our new Executive Producers on the team:

  • John Korellis
  • Michi Lantz & Torbjorn Lantz
  • Delcio Gomes
  • Casey Cannon
  • Veronica Marella
  • Mindaugas Jokubaitis
  • Jenhwa Tung & Koh Poh

Thank you to all our industry friends and colleagues who shared, posted, tweeted and spread the word. We would not have reached as many people if it weren't for you. Your help made a big difference.

Lastly, a number of publications, blog sites and companies went out of their way to either create articles and interviews about the film/campaign or mention it throughout the month. We'd like to acknowledge and thank each single one of them for their help.
